The Moon - May 25, 2013 by Joseph Brimacombe on Flickr.

Scientists at MIT have figured out the 45 year old mystery of the moon’s uneven gravitation. An asteroid slammed into the moon, causing a shockwave that sent debris flying. The crust produced a counter wave which increased density in the resulting crater, creating the bullseye gravitational pattern seen today.
